If you’ve recently gotten your hair extensions installed, it’s understandable that you’re struggling with maintenance.
You can’t seem to understand why the texture and fibers of the extensions are becoming brittle by the day. You don’t wash your extensions as much and you’re oiling your hair as well.
But then why are your extensions becoming damaged? While there are plenty of reasons why this may be happening, we’ll cover a few basic reasons why Russian hair extensions become damaged.
Here’s what you’re probably doing wrong:
You Rely on Heat Styling Everyday
While Russian hair extensions can take the heat when it comes to heat styling, regular use of blow-dryers and straighteners can damage them.
This is because direct heat damages the fibers and texture of the hair extensions. You’ll notice that after some time that your extensions have become dry and brittle.
Remember that extensions aren’t like human hair and won’t replenish themselves over time. That’s why it’s better to be safe than sorry and take the right precautions to prevent this problem.
You’re Using the Wrong Conditioner
Conditioners and shampoos that are laden with harsh chemicals like sulfate and paraben will damage your extensions. The type of conditioner and shampoo you use makes all the difference.
We recommend using organic products that are specifically created for hair extensions. We recommend using the Kevin Murphy product line. The Kevin Murphy products are created using natural and organic ingredients that don’t damage extensions and nourish the roots.
The “Brush your Hair A Hundred Times” method is a myth. In fact, brushing your hair twice or thrice a day can damage your hair extensions. This is because brushes pull and tug at the roots, pulling your hair by force.
That’s why you see a lot of hair stuck inside of brushes. Instead, go with a wide-toothed comb. They are perfect for detangling hair and getting rid of knots.
These are some of the few reasons why your Russian hair extensions might be incurring damage.
