So Long, Short Hair: How to Care for and Get Long Hair

Longing for those long locks after your drastic cut? Growing out your hair involves a lot of tender loving care and a whole lot of effort!. Here are some quick tips to achieve long hair in no time at all!

Oil

Oil

For natural hair—take any moisturizing oil of your choice—whether it’s coconut, olive, almond or any other oil—heat it gently, and massage it into the roots for at least five minutes.  This will help stimulate the scalp and get the blood flow going. This stimulation also helps revive and nourish the hair follicles, making the hair grow faster and healthier.

For hair with extensions- Buy a deep conditioner or a masque and apply only to the end of your natural and extension hair. If the conditioner gets anywhere near the locs, it can cause them to slip out!

Trim

Trim

This mostly applies to natural hair. If you are trying to grow out your hair, get frequent trims from Hair Extension of Houston. While it’s a myth that getting a haircut or trim makes your hair grow faster, what it does do is prevent split ends and therefore breakage.

Hold off on the shampoo

Don’t wash your hair too often—twice a week should suffice. The more you wash your hair, the more you dry it out and make it more prone to breakage.

Hold off on the shampoo

The natural oils of your scalp nourish the hair. Once you start washing your hair less often, you will find that your hair has adapted to this new regime. Your hair will stop producing excess oil that would once give you a greasy look.

Co-washing can also be taken up in place of shampooing. In co-washing, you just use conditioner on the ends and wash it out or throw on some dry shampoo in between washes to give you volume and reduce the oily look. It’s a good way to refresh your hair!

Silk Pillows

Silk Pillows

This tip works for both natural hair and hair with extensions. Swap out your regular pillow case for a silk one. During the night, all that tossing and turning in your sleep causes your hair to rub against the cloth. It therefore requires a smooth and soft cloth to rub against in order to reduce friction which in turn prevents breakage and frizz.
